Dear Jody and Family,

You and Paul are in our thoughts and prayers. We remember Paul as a truly good person with a wide range of interests, which he put to terrific use as UVM Library Director, but also in his free time activities. We remember, for example, his antique tool collection, which was extraordinary -- matched only by his knowledge and enthusiasm about antique tools. And, of course, for many years he was an active participant and worthy foe in a long-running monthly...

I will always remember the help Paul gave to me and the Trustees of the Dorothy Alling Library when building our first library addition. His expert advice, quiet good humor and complete understanding of the problems of small (very small!) Vermont public libraries enabled us to win a bond issue vote and receive a public construction grant from the federal government. Without his help I don't think it would have happened. I'm so glad he got to see it and will always be...

Dear Family, My husband (now deceased) and I used to have dinner some times with Paul, here, at The Nottingham. My husband was a professor at LeMoyne College, and shared Paul's interests in history, and of course, the tools. Once I had to bring something to his apartment, and had an introduction to his tools.
He was kind, interesting, as well as interested, and I know he will be sadly missed by you. I will remember him in my prayers. Betty Wiley
