Dr. Paul Kortan

He became my doctor over 40 years ago at the Wellesley and continues to St. Mikes. Every 5 years or whenever I needed him, he was there. I am still shocked at his death. My thanks to Allison for always getting me through the door. My sincere condolences to his family. You always knew, he really cared.

I met Dr. Kortan in 1971, while he was working as an attendant for the summer at the former Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital, during his undergraduate studies at university. He was friendly and down-to-earth. However, I had not seen him since that time, so I have just learned of his remarkable career as a gastroenterologist. I extend my sincere sympathies to his family in this difficult time.

I was saddened to hear about Dr. Kortan's passing. I trained under him and his words of wisdom and lessons are still used in providing patient care. He used to light up when he saw me at meetings and he would always try to make me jealous by kissing my wife's hand. I will miss you Paul. Thanks for all you did. I will try to carry your work forward.

My heartfelt condolences to all the family. i am a patient of Dr Paul Kortan and looked forward to my every 5 year preventative colonoscopies . I know that i was in good hands with Dr. Kortan. Dr. Kortan was kind , respectful and very caring i adored him and will miss you very much Dr. Paul you were the best.

A dear colleague, talented gastroenterologist, amazing human being with a heart of gold. One of the best teachers I have had the privilege of knowing. He had a a big heart and great sense of humour. He will be missed.
