Not sure what to say?

Such a good guy missed by so many

I was a classmate of Paul´s at Cornell Medical School though I only heard about his untimely passing today 8/17 from another classmate . He clearly had a full and truly wonderful life and family .

To the Lachiewicz Family, I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Dr. Lachiewicz was my favorite surgeon at UNC, I was the Orthopedic Specialty Tech who scrubbed with him on numerous total joint cases. My fond memory is when he came to my baby shower. He will surely be missed. I pray you have strength and peace. Pam Presley

Considering all of Paul´s accomplishments and virtues, it is hard not to think of him as "a man for all seasons." So it is curiously appropriate that both his marriage and funeral occurred in churches dedicated to St, Thomas More, the hero of the play and the Oscar winning film by that name. Like Paul, More was tremendously successful in his profession and internationally recognized for his intellectual accomplishments. He also was a devout Catholic layman seeking the welfare of all of...

It was my pleasure to work with Paul as a nurse in the Ortho clinic. His energy could be hard to keep up with. He spoke often of his kids when we had a quiet moment. I now have the absolute fortune and pleasure to work with his son Mark as a nurse in his clinic. It is clear that they share lots of similarities. The greatest 2 being a great sense of humor and a deep passion for the work. My prayers are with you all. Best Robin

Such warm and fond memories of Paul (and Ave) during my years in Chapel Hill. His faith and compassion were an inspiration. I live in KY now, otherwise, I would say these words in person.

My apologies for not paying my respects and extending sympathies to the family in person. My mother's memorial service is also this weekend. May the peace that surpasses all understanding be with you all during this time.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Paul was my doctor when I had a traumatic car accident with the worst break he ever saw and he put me all back together again. A wonderful doctor and a nice man..

Dear Ave and family, you are constantly in our thoughts and prayers and we send all our love at this time. Paul is an amazing person, always so full of fun, so positive, so supportive, and his ability to just laugh so openly and honestly made him a treasure to be with. Paul remains an inspiration to me and my life is better from knowing Paul. Our deepest sympathy to you Ave and your family.
