Paul C. Lavilla was born January 8, 1957 in the Philippines to the late Serafin and Concepcion Lavilla (nee Cotin). Mr. Lavilla served in the Philippine Marines after graduating from the University of the Philippines with a BS in Nautical Engineering. Mr. Lavilla moved to Florida for a few years before moving to Maryland where he has lived for the past 30 years. He worked as a material handler for McCormick and Company. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Deborah Lavilla (nee Peterson), his daughter Tamara Lavilla, and his son Apolinario Lavilla and his brother Jose Lavilla . Mr. Lavilla is survived by his children Marilyn Butler of Australia, John Lavilla of the Philippines, Paul Lavilla, Jr. of the Philippines, Leilani Felicitas of Rosedale, Pamela Lavilla of the Philippines, Paulina Lavilla-Slemp of Brooklyn Park, Joshua Shortlidge of Brooklyn, his sisters Luz Cotin Lavilla Mojica and Aurelia Cotin Lavilla Bolante of Florida, brother Sergio Lavilla of Texas. He is also survived by the love of his life, Carole Curtis, and her two children, Kimberly Curtis of Washington DC and Christopher Curtis of North Carolina as well as his 21 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Mr. Paul Cotin Lavilla passed away at Casey House in Rockville, MD after being in declining health.
Friends may call on the family Sunday, October 1 and Monday, October 2 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM at the family-owned Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral home. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 3 at 11:00 AM also at Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home.
