Not sure what to say?

So sorry for your loss - but so grateful for his firm faith in the Lord, and his defense/ positive action for Western Civilization and the traditional Christian worldview!! I've many fond memories of great Western Civ. lectures at WMU !! He inspired me to study ancient history! So glad he came to WMU. Paul Erbe - Mason MI

I was blessed to hear Dr. Maiers sermons at Kanley Chapel from 1970-1974. My mother was an huge fan, and had all his books, which were signed. His recessional, Beautiful Savior, was one of our favorites. I will always think of Dr Maier when I hear it.

My wife and I had the privilege of joining Paul on three trips to the middle east. We also attended a number of his lectures at Zion Lutheran Church. Paul was fluent in Greek, Hebrew and German. Years ago, I in send a Christmas card to Paul that was done in white ink on black paper that said Greetings and inside it said From Herod the Great. He had much fun showing it to his friends. He added much to our Christian walk through his books and lectures. We pray the family will the good memories...

Life long friend, I actually used to babysit Laura and Julie sincere condolences to you all

Perhaps more than 20 years ago I heard Pastor Maier speak at an event at Gloria Dei, Davie, Florida. He started the sermon saying he was drowning, (in bills, busyness, etc) and eventually wrapped it up that he was drowning daily to sin and living in the newness of life. It was one of the most powerful sermons I ever heard, I have been blessed by that memory many times over the years. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Teleflora's Heavenly and Harmony

As a student of WMU graduating in 1971 I attended chapel services led by Dr. Maier. I was not raised Lutheran. Little did I know I would marry a Lutheran who became a minister and that I would get my colloquy in Lutheran Education and teach in a Lutheran school. I treasure my signed copy of Josephus from a fellow Bronco. Rest in peace Dr. Maier. Thank you for your influence in my life.

My professor at WMU. I took a class on the Roman Empire from him. A lecturer who slipped in funny historical tidbits to keep listeners interested. I enjoyed my time in and learned in his class. My sympathy to his family, who I am sure will miss him very much.

I never met Paul. I always wanted to. But I read a number of his books and was always captivated by them. Out late pastor, Gary Cantrell of Gull Lake Bible Church in Hickory Corners, MI talked about Paul and recommended Paul´s works. Kalamazoo had lost a shining diamond, but heaven had gained godly servant. Well done is what he heard when he entered Glory.
