Dr. Paul Wellman Mayer

I was an amateur radio friend of Paul's. After talking with him on the airwaves, I finally got to meet Paul in person in 2005 at an amateur radio convention. I visited Paul and Joan at their home in Miami. I was so saddened to hear of Paul's passing, as well as Joan's. Paul showed me his biomedical patent for operating on a beating heart. It was a marvelous piece of biomedical engineering. The world lost a wonderful man and I miss him greatly.

I worked with his wife for many years and, as fond of him as she was, I heard a lot about him. I will never forget that every Thursday at 1pm, Joan's hair appointment time, he would call without fail, then realized the day it was. He was always cheerful, except when his wife required her surgery - he almost lost it.

Dear Joan, Vickie, Marilyn and Ellen, You are so much in my thoughts with Paul's passing. You all have such a special place in my memories of the girls in school and in gymnastics. Hugs, Judy Darwick

Dr. Mayer: I "grew up" as your friendship with my parents "grew". You are the only person to call me "Lovely Sharon" So happy and blessed to have had your long-term friendship with my family!
