Paul M. McManus

Sorry to see this sad news, however much after the fact. I wasn't much keen on high school, but my years spent in Paul's classrooms (3 out of 4) were a terrific exception. Lively, engaging, intelligent, thoughtful, challenging and very funny are just a few of the words that initially come to mind. I've thought of him often over the years and only stumbled upon this notice by randomly googling his name. He was truly one of the great ones.

I have fond memories of my senior year high school honors history class (1974) and my two year American history with Mr. McManus. The senior year capstone writing class was one of my best experiences, and was so helpful in college. I am grateful to have had him as a teacher. I remember him well. He was an inspiring, motivating instructor. May he rest in peace. Please feel some comfort knowing he changed a student's life.

Bill and I express our deepest sympathy to you, Terry, and your family. I've known paul since our novice days as teachers in Somerset. He was an exceptional human being and will be missed . We feel fortunate to have seen you both at MGH recently. Time will ease the wounds but he will forever be in your heart.
