Not sure what to say?

I called him Billy because that is what Mrs. Moss called him. He was my favorite cousin, my first coach, and I became a coach because of him. Heaven now has the best football coach from Virginia.

Gladys and kids -- our thoughts are with you. Even though we are far away, we will miss him.

Much love, Betty

From an aspiring coach to a remarkable respected coach:

My dream is to one day continue in the footsteps in the legacy of your coaching. Your stories and accomplishments have been an inspiration to myself and many others.
It was my desire that you might be present for my first game as a head coach, and I know that you will be there in spirit.
In your honor my 100th career win will be dedicated to Coach “Satch” Moss.
The game that we love may have differed, but our...

To The Moss Family,

We were very sorry to hear of the death of Coach Moss. We all remember well what he did for the youth of Matoaca.

Gladys, Being from Clifton Forge, how can anyone not remember the special times when Satch played football, and what a special person he was? He was truly one of my heroes.
Our thoughts are with you and your family.

To the family of Coach Moss-
I was, and still am, deeply saddened recieving word of Coach Moss passing. A very large part of my character, today, is due to the athletic values that Coach Moss instilled in me as a Matoaca High School football player. May God remain close throughout your families loss. Memories of Coach Moss will surely be with all others who were fortunate enough to have been coached and taught by him.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Irving C. Peoples, Jr.

Mrs.Moss and family,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Coach Moss or as I liked to call him "Chief". I will always hold dear the memories of him as a coach, a teacher, and a friend.

"Satch": You were not only our cousin but most of all our friend. We will always have many good memories (Growing up on Roxbury Street; Douthat; "the camp"; golfing; Bridgewater football; Spanish in summer school and lots of story telling). We are sorry you had to go but we are glad the suffering is over. Say hello to Ms. Moss, "Uncle Bulgie", and Mickey for us. Until we meet again...

Gladys and the Children,
Just found out about your loss ! So very sorry ! Satch mean't much to many people ! I have many fond memories ! God be with you in this hour of hurt !
Much Love-
Highest Regards,
Dickie

I have known Mr. Moss and his family from the time I started to walk - at least that is what I am told! He was always there with a smile and as a teacher he kept me on my toes. He had a remarkable personality and always had a joke to tell you to make you laugh. My thoughts and my prayers go out to Mrs. Moss and her family. Those who met and knew Mr. Moss were blessed and their lives are better for it. Take comfort that a very special angel is now looking out for us all.
