I served under then Captain PJ Mulloy onboard the USS PONCE (LPD-15). I was so very fortunate to have him as my commanding officer for my first assignment. The PONCE was the finest ship in the fleet. During my 20 year career in the Navy I never forgot the lessons I learned under his leadership as a SMSA .FWFS ShipmateChristopher J. PauleSMC(SW) USN (RET)

He was my captain aboard USS Ponce. Though i was a lowly MM he still found time to talk with us down in the hole.He was a great leader and a great person.

Rest In Peace Sir. He let our Senior class of 79 at Mt Ararat borrow his red carpet for our entrance to Prom. He also spoke at the ceremony honoring my dad Dan Vancil for the training of the Harpoon Missile to the P3-C Orion squadrons. Presented him the Atta Boy award. My prayers are with your family.
