Paul Possemato

Paul hired me for my first teaching job at Griffith Jr. High. He helped me a lot, and I am forever grateful. I wish I had a photo of him during that time: 1973

Dr. Possamato was my principal at Griffith, junior high school, or I attended during this time my parents were going through a divorce, and it made it very rough for me to not have my father at home Dr Possamato is a very caring and passionate person who taught me how to trust myself to care about myself. While at Mt. Vernon Jr. High School in L.A.,Ca. I encounterd Mr .Possemato. He was our vice principal. What an affect he had on me and other students. I'm a person of color who was a small timid girl. Mr.Possemato help me find the student that stole my purse in class. I followed his rise in the public school system. What a fine legacy he leaves! I'm 68 years old and I still think about this caring intelligent man.

Wonderful things happened, now, so long ago. In memory of a great educator.

Paul was a dear high school friend of our mom Nonie Chaffin. They stayed in touch through out their lives. Our mom just passed away this April and we are finding letters of friendship from Paul and his Heroes and Teachers Book with a lovely note written to Nonie in 2008. He sounds like an amazing person and that he is missed by many many people. Our condolences.

Paul was a great educator and working for him in the Los Angeles Unified School District was both a pleasure and an honor. A good man and a caring mentor, he let me see how important good leadership could be. Reposa in Pace Paul.
