Mr. Procacci was my first boss, when I was 11, delivering the Jersey Journal in Bayonne. I was only 11, and a girl, and was therefore too young and not the correct gender, however I had a family member who worked in the main office on Journal Square and who pled my case to a very sympathetic Mr. Procacci. (Girls became legal a year or two later, when the governor or NJ signed it into law.) I used the money for new shoes and back-to-school clothes. No hand-me-downs for me that year! It was...
