It's raining and overcast in SC today. The day reflects my feelings as I remember a dearly departed friend. RIP, Paul, RIP

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss Sandy, Donna, and family. My memory of Donna's dad, which is who Paul was to me knowing him through my teen years, is a man with a kind smile and joyful spirit. Was it Saturday that he and Sandy loved their bagels and Lox? (which, thank the Lord, I don't think they ever asked me if I wanted to try!) Dear Rubinstein family, I was so sorry to hear that Dr. Paul has passed away. It was a great pleasure to know him in the last few months. I wish that we had had more effective treatments available for him. What a lovely man, he filled the room with kindness and energy.

In my short time spent with Paul I found a friend and a real guys guy. I only wish Cleo and I would have had a lot more time to visit and trade stories.

I was lucky enough to have Dr. Rubinstein as my family dentist when I was a little girl. We were both pleasantly surprised when I became his banker so many years later. Myself, along with the ladies at the bank were always left smiling several times a week when Dr. Rubinstein would visit. I will remember him smiling, bragging about the dinner Mrs. Rubinstein was going to cook that night, and he never forgot to remind us that life was good.
