Not sure what to say?

Mr. Rust was my 6th grade teacher at Franklin Elementary in the mid 1960's. He was a great teacher and I loved being in his classroom. I became a teacher and wanted to be as good a teacher as he was. Over the years I have thought of him often! What a wonderful man he was.

Our hearts and prayers go out to you. So sorry for your loss. We are thinking and praying for you.

I’m so sorry to hear of Mr. Rust’s passing. I grew up in Jacksonville and spent a lot of time at CCC. Mr. Rust was a positive fixture at the church, especially with the chancel choir and with the youth groups. He had a great sense of humor. I remember him as a gentle giant, with his pipe in hand. My condolences to Lois, Wesley (Deb), Sarah and the entire family. Prayers of peace and comfort to all.

So very sad to hear this. He was a friend and highly respected teacher. He will be missed.

Mr. Rust was my sixth-grade teacher at Franklin Elementary in Jacksonville (1966-1967?). He was one of my favorite teachers and helped make that year one of the best ever. He was so kind and caring. My mother was a high school teacher and told me that he was one of the best.

Mr. Rust was a part of the fabric of my life almost as long as I can remember. Through church, school, and my friendship with Wes, his sense of humor was always there, as were his big comfy hugs! 97 years! What a life. I hope his family and loved ones can find comfort in their memories. ❤

Mr. Rust was my 6th grade teacher at Franklin Elementary School. Many fond memories of him.

Mr Rust was my teacher at Jonathan Turner, I remember his larger than life personality and his big mustache that her waxed on each end! He was a good teacher.

I remember his beautiful voice in the choir every Sunday.
