Obituary

Ruud, Paul Kenneth Age 76 of Ham Lake. Loving husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather and uncle, went to meet his Lord and Savior on February 7, 2008 after a long term illness. He was born February 2, 1932 in rural Eveleth, MN. He graduated from Mountain Iron High School in 1950 and received his engineering degree from the University of Minnesota in 1955. He served as the Anoka County Highway Engineer from 1974 until his retirement in 1994. He was past president of the Minnesota Association of County Engineers and was named "Urban Engineer of the Year" by the National Association of County Engineers in 1992. He was a charter member of the Ham Lake Lions Club, past president of the Nordkap Male Chorus, a board member of Mercy Hospital, and the Thurston Foundation. He was a longtime member of Glen Cary Lutheran Church and was a choir member for over 50 years. He was also involved in many other church and community organizations. Preceded in death by parents, Paul B. and Hilda Ruud; sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Chester Johnson, and brother, Daniel Ruud. Survived by loving wife of 52 years, Marlys; sons, Paul S. (Cheryl), Brian (Julie), and Mark (Gayle); grandchildren, Kendra (Brent) Wendlandt, Kolynn (David) Johnson, Kati (Brent) Berwald, Derek, Daniel, and Shauna Ruud; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Deloris and Frank Shimer, Dennis and Grace Peterson, and Eugene and Delores Peterson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial service Tuesday 11 AM at Glen Cary Lutheran Church, 15531 Central Ave NE, Ham Lake. Visitation Monday 5-8 PM at the church and Tuesday 1 hour prior to service in church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Glen Cary Lutheran Church. Thurston-Lindberg Chapel 763-421-0220

I am so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. I graduated with Mark. I remember him fondly singing in the Glen Cary senior choir and he always had a smile on his face. Such a nice man! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Uncle Paul will be missed so very much... he was everything at one time or another to everyone... my godfather, a parent, a husband, a relative, a professional mentor, a friend, a strong Christian... he had it all going. Many will miss him
