Paul Matthew Scott went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Jan. 10, 2011. Paul was born in Rathbun, Iowa, on Oct. 5, 1938. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Icle Scott; son, Lenny Scott; and mother-in-law, Ora Erbland, who loved him as her own. What a glorious reunion that must have been. Paul is survived by the love of his life, wife, April Scott. They cherished and loved each other from the moment they met. Two hearts, one love; that was their destiny. So, go my love and prepare a place for us...wherever you are, my love will find you. He also leaves behind his daughter, Brenda Pullen; son, Brad Scott; and five grandchildren. Paul was the middle child of ten; brothers, Bobbie, Billie, Donald, Teddy, James, John, Daniel, and Michael; sister, Rachel; and too many friends and “adopted” family members to mention. Paul was a proud, devout, beautiful spirit, who loved the Lord with all his heart, and in so doing, taught many others, by example. The Lord shone through Paul’s beautiful blue eyes. He was always a hard worker and could do anything with his hands. An excellent carpenter and craftsman; if he saw it, he could build it. Paul also loved to cook, especially for a crowd, the more, the merrier. He was well known in the area for his BBQ sauce, salsa and smoked goodies. Paul’s wit, love of life and gentle good nature will be missed by all. Heaven is a much better place with him there. The family would like to thank Sangre de Cristo Hospice for helping to take care of Paul and helping him keep as much dignity as was possible during his final days. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at First Church of the Nazarene, 84 Stanford Ave., with Pastor James Murray officiating.
