Age 61 passed away Friday, June 6, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 17, 1963 in Hammond, Indiana to Carolyn (nee Fetsch) and the late Edmond Sojka. As a retired Local 41 laborer, he was a diligent worker who enjoyed gardening and took immense pride in caring for his lawn. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.  Paul is survived by his mother, Carolyn Sojka; siblings, Peter (Terry) Sojka, Michelle Burnham and Andrew (Melanie) Sojka and numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.  He is preceded in death by his sister, Maria Ossanna and brother-in-law, Jim Burnham.  A memorial service will be held Friday, June 20, 2025 at 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368. A memorial visitation will also be held Friday, June 20, 2025 from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Paul was one of a kind;
He called himself the “stubborn-pollock” and that was an understatement! He probably use his cell phone a dozen times- only if he had too- he “had a land line”. I bet he never turn on a computer in his life and never understood the new “ millennium” thing he was so old school and he hated change, so he did it his way- or as Frank Sinatra sang- “I did it my way”- one of Paul’s favorite songs!
