Not sure what to say?

Coach Straub was a great man, no doubt. There was a lot of love around him, no coincidence. Tampa Legend and Icon. My father had Coach Straub at the West Tampa Boys Club & I had him at Jesuit, that, by itself is amazing. Great guy.

I grew up next door to Coach Straub in Beach Park Tampa.Fla. He was great man. His wife made the best potato soup ever. Steve and I grew up together. I remember going to Jesuit basketball with him and he asked me to be the ballboy. I was 12 years old. I witnessed Lou Piniella score 57 points still a record for the area. He coached Piniella at Jesuit. Straubs were great neighbors Sharon,Steve and Susie your parents were great and my Mother truely loved them

A true gentleman. Treated everyone with kindness and respect. Kent R. Corral,MD

I've known coach Straub for well over 50 years, through his/my familys association with the University of Tampa and Athletic Community.
A True American Hero. Great Person. Never a disability with Coach. Always told it the way it was.
We have lost a Great Man, from Americas Greatest Generation.
Rest in Peace Coach.
Thank you for everything and your inspiration.

Simply put, Coach Straub was my hero at Jesuit. An example of a man with an unwavering love of God, family and country. Well done, good and faithful servant, well done.

I was privileged to know coach Straub, to work along side of him and to cherish the positive wisdom and the strength that he had to overcome due to his war injury. Everyone that had any contact with him will always admire him. May he rest in Peace.

He was an inescapable source of inspiration. He imparted in all of us extreme levels of perseverance that carried us through life's dark moments. He lives on in all of us who knew him. ......Frederick A. Garcia, Jesuit Class of 1964.

The earth has a great loss but Heaven has a greater gain

I always enjoyed Coach Straub's classes because he inserted his life lessons of optimism into the course material. I didn't fully appreciate, like I do now, that I had been taught by a war hero from the greatest generation. He was (is) a role model of perseverance.
