I met Mr. Thayer when he was 71 and flying the F4U Corsair in the Harlingen Air Show--Confederate Air Force--in fall 1990 when I was a staff writer just out of college working for the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. He was an amazing pilot, handling that Corsair magnificently, inspiring awe in many of us younger people in the crowd. Ms.Thayer and Brynn, Mr. Thayer was like a father to me and I cherish the times we spent together at the gun range and in his living room listening to him tell stories of his flying adventures! He was truly a great man and I miss him so much!

Margery, it was such a coincidence that I met you in the hall at PHPC, as I was visiting. I was tardy leaving home to travel to Highland Park Presbyterian, so thought I would stop at your church. I so enjoyed seeing you again, and it was a pleasure to meet Brynn. I never thought I would have that privilege! The write-up of Paul was fantastic; my husband, Bill, and I had no idea he had so many honors. He packed more than a lifetime of living into 90 years.
