Paul Lewis Turner of Irasburg, passed away in Burlington on Saturday December 12, 2015 at the age of 73.
Paul was born on June 11, 1942 in Newport, VT. He was the son of Clesson "Joe" and Hazel (Desjardins) Turner.
Paul graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Newport in 1960. He joined the Vermont National Guard after high school. He met Cynthia Larocque while working on the Ski Patrol at Jay Peak and they later married on July 22, 1972.
Paul worked at Indian Head Plywood, Butterfields for 10 years, and the Newport Armory for seven years. He was parts manager for various stores in the area. He was a milk tester for the National Farmers Organization and then IBM. After his retirement he worked at Price Chopper in Derby, VT.
Paul loved playing golf, bowling, playing cribbage, and poker. He also loved reading, fishing, playing pool with Raymond and Casey, hanging out with Freddy and friends in the garage, doing his fire wood, and walking his dog Chance.
Paul was a former Selectman for the Town of Irasburg.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia (Larocque) Turner of Irasburg, VT, his children: Marti Wilson and her husband Jon of Brownington, VT, Abby Wallace of Lithia, FL, and Amos Turner and his wife Charity of Glover, VT, by his grandchildren: Jesse Wilson and his wife Donna of Derby, VT, Jamie Wilson and her fiancé James Margolla of Brownington, VT, Maddie and Emma Wallace of Lithia, FL, Bailey, Grace, and Ethan Turner of Glover, VT, and Holly Loukes of Derby, VT, by his great granddaughter Paisley Fortin, and by his siblings: Claire Guiranna and her husband Carl of PA, Ann Cote (Pee Wee) Cote and her husband Lawrence (Sonny) of Westfield, VT, Lois Jenks and her husband Peter of Newport, VT, Linda Lawson of Westfield, VT, and James Turner and his wife Connie of NC, by his sister-in-law Mary-Jane Turner of Irasburg, VT, and numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers: Earl and
David Turner.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 37 Lake Road, Newport with Elder Randy Lee officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday December 19, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the funeral.
