Dearest Ulmer Family-
Mr. Ulmer was one of the dearest teachers that I had had in my school career. Due in part to Mr. Ulmer, I became interested in the social sciences and history, and I am now a proud college grad with my degree in history. I am so glad to have had Mr. Ulmer as part of my life, and my heart goes out to you for your loss. I would have loved to have been able to attend services, but I was away on my honeymoon. My condolences and God's blessings on you as a family in...

There is an old saying that goes, "When an elder passes on, a library is lost." Paul certainly does take with him a phenomenal storehouse of knowledge about history, literature, teaching and human nature, and an empty place remains where his humor, his warmth and compassion and his playfully subtle wit used to be. Mr Ulmer was my teacher 39 years ago and he was the BEST! I was very fortunate that I was passing by Greenbriar the day he retired. I stopped and ran in to see if I could catch him. He was in his room and after all those years I was able to tell him face to face that he was my favorite teacher. He had the best, dryest sense of humor. I was lucky to have him as my teacher!

I had Mr Ulmer as my teacher about 19 years ago. My daughter just recently went to Washington in March which sadly was his last trip. One of my memories of him was covering our books in his class. He told us to cut off the bottom half of our brown paper bag and save it for the bus trip to Washington. Then we can place it on our heads stick our heads out the window and we would truly be "sticking our bottoms out the window" He loved to stroll in on his "map mobile" during class. He was a very...

Ulmer Family,
Mr. Ulmer was my teacher over 30 years ago. Memories of him have stayed with me all this time, I think of him often although I had forgotten the subject he taught. In his class during a time of recession he encouraged us to go forward regardless of chosen occupation with the goal of being the absolute best in our field. This, he assured us would always keep us employed.
He was a teacher with a great sense of humor. Laughing with us about his initials.
Please take...
