Paul Calvin Wilcoxson

Paul Calvin Wilcoxson was born January 29, 1934, in Clarinda, IA, to George and Mildred (Eberly) Wilcoxson. Paul lived in the Clarinda area until he joined the United States Army in 1954. Upon his discharge from the Army he joined the U.S. Army Reserves and served until 1960. During this time Paul worked and lived in the Clarinda area. In 1984, Paul was wed to Velva McFadden. Together they lived in Bedford until his passing. Paul enjoyed working on cars and trucks and operated his own body shop in Bedford for many years. He always enjoyed talking with customers and sharing stories with them about his family and his hobbies. Paul always enjoyed sports. It didn't matter what time, what day, or where he was, he was either listening to or watching sports. His favorite sports were NASCAR and boxing. If there was a NASCAR event he was glued to it and the outcome. Paul also enjoyed hunting and trapping. Paul loved to go hunting with his son Dan, and when a fresh snow fell he was always ready to go coyote hunting with the gang. Paul also enjoyed gardening. He took great pride in his garden and enjoyed watching his time and effort blossom into tasty vegetables for all to eat and enjoy. He also enjoyed giving tours of his garden to the grandkids while riding with them on the lawn mower. Paul also loved to read books about the ole' west, especially those authored by Louis L'Amour, listening to the "Elephant Shop" and he never passed up the chance to eat at Burger King. Left to cherish the memories of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend are wife, Velva Wilcoxson of Bedford; three sons, Dick Wilcoxson of Columbus, NE; Bill Wilcoxson of Clarinda; and Dan Wilcoxson and wife Sheila also of Clarinda; stepchildren Patty Lischer and husband Jay of Bedford; Tim McFadden and wife Mona of Council Bluffs; Mary McFadden of Gravity; Bill McFadden and wife Yolanda of Wellston, OK; Lorna Bucher and husband Dale of Bedford; brothers Marion Wilcoxson of Clarinda; Charles Wilcoxson and wife Susie of Truman, AR; sisters; Maybelle Henry of Yuma, AZ; Ethel Carmichael of Omaha, NE; Goldie Scroggs of Red Oak; many grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Preceding Paul in death are his parents, George and Mildred Wilcoxson and a brother Robert Wilcoxson. Paul will be missed by his entire family and many, many friends We will hold the memories of his sharing spirit and wit as a wonderful gift. He will live in our hearts forever.
