I left Kansas City in 1984, but have attended family reunions over the years. At each reunion or family gathering it was Paula I would make sure to see first to get caught up on the news of my first cousins. We spent many a picnic and Sundays at Grandma Wesslings together growing up. My sympathy goes out to Uncle Jay and my cousins Jay, Mary Beth and Matt and Jim and her wonderful family. We'll all miss her.

I am very sorry to hear about Paula's passing. I knew Paula and her family at St. Francis, and later, at O'Hara. She was a very sweet and happy person. Just last week, I was going through old pictures when I ran across one from my birthday party when I was in about the 3rd grade. A lot of the girls in my class were at the party including Paula. We shared some really nice times during our school years. It's comforting to have memories from years ago in times like these.
On behalf of the Panek family to the Ziegler and Wessling families, you're all in our thoughts and prayers.

God must have needed another angel because he got one. My sympathy, my heart and prayers go out to Jim, Jimmy, Jen, Katie, Uncle Jay, Mary Beth, Jay, Matt and families. May knowing she's in Heaven and with her mom again bring you some comfort.
Love you all, Terrie Riley

I am so grateful that I got to know Paula and Jim over the last few years. As my wife and I watched you walk together in the second phase of your marriage, it inspired our love and lives. I hope that all those extra roses and cards I always saw Jim getting let you know how much he loves you. I will especially miss seeing you walk your grandchildren in front of my house. I enjoyed every little conversation.

Jim and family, especially Katie, I am so sorry for your loss. Paula was a great person always full of smiles. You did not know it at the time but I work for St. Lukes in their eICU and would watch over and pray for Paula. I just wish my prayers would have been answered in a different way. You are all in my prayers through this difficult time. May God Bless.

Jay Wessling and Family
We were saddened by the news of the loss of your beloved sister Paula Ann. We didn't really have the opportunity to know her but felt we knew her through Kellie and the rest of the Wessling Family that we had the pleasure to meet last year at Kellie's graduation party. I understand that no words can fill the void you must be feeling. I lost my brother Greg last November. It was and still remains a difficult time. But know that your friends and your family are there for you and that Paula is with Our Lord and Savior. God Bless

We have known Jim, Paula and family for around 10 years now.....7 of them we were next door neighbors. We will forever remember many back-yard-chain-length-fence-conversations and the popular fire pit smores. We missed you all when we moved away 3 yrs ago, but luckily Paula and I reconnected on Facebook a few months ago and it was great to communicate with her more. We are all blessed to have known Paula!
To Jim and family, please know that we will continue to pray for Paula and all of you.

To the Wesslings and Zieglers--
I've had the honor and priviledge of calling Paula a friend for many years. Paula was a classmate of mine at O'hara, and of course there's St. Catherine's as well. A long time...
Paula was always an incredible person, and we are all blessed to have known her for however long each of us did. I remember her very well as a kind and caring person, and she always represented her family, faith, school and classmates well. What an honor it was to know her...and a pleasure.
I unfortunately lost track of Paula many years ago when I left KC to move to DC for graduate school, but had the opportunity to reconnect with her on facebook, and that has been a great pleasure. It was a blessing to rekindle an old friendship, and to see what a wonderful human she continued to be...wife, mother and grandmother. She loved you all so much, and her facebook comments about her grandkids were precious. How she loved to spend time with them!
You can imagine what a shock it was to her Class of '77 classmates to hear first of her illness, and then her death. There's been so much discussion about her, her kindness, and how much she will be missed.
My condolences to you all. Forgive the long winded message, but she touched so many lives in such a wonderful way that her passing has to be noted.
Rest in Peace Dear Friend.

Jim, Jimmy, Jennifer and Katie, I will never forget the first time I met Paula at Christ the King Preschool and we started talkiing like old friends. Even though time seperated us, I count her as one of the greatest friends I have ever known. All these entries on the guestbook remember a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, friend and show how many hearts she touched. I am blessed to have known her and I will always remember her smiling. My heartfelt sympathies to your entire family.

I'm sorry Paula's life was as brief as it was, but boy, did she live it well. If something needed to be done, she did it. If someone needed help, she gave it. But she wasn't only solid, dependable, generous and caring; she was also a lot of fun! She lived life to the fullest, and the photos on this website do a good job of capturing her joy in her beautiful family and in the wonderful trips she organized.

So hard to put into words our feelings, we will miss Paula greatly. We have always considered ourselves extremely blessed to have Paula (Jim and entire family) in our lives. We will truly miss our "tag team" babysitting partner and our sharing of great stories. Peace and God's love be with you always.

Jim, my deepest sympathy to you, your children, all of Paula's siblings and Uncle Jay.
It's times like these that we all should make an extra effort to love, respect, forgive and be kind to the people in our lives - we never know when our last moment together may be.
I most admire and even often envied the closeness of Uncle Jay and his children (my cousins) - such strong bonds and respect for each other. Paula chose wisely when she picked you to be part of that family! I'll always remember Paula for her radiant smile and kindness to everyone she touched - she was so much like the way I remember Aunt Betty.
I picture Paula right now gathering wood to keep her campfire burning bright at the lake, watching a beatiful sunset and patiently waiting for those she loves to join her by the fire's warmth.

Paula will be greatly missed by family, friends, and fellow St. Catherine parishioners. Although it had been over 17 yrs since I last saw Paula at Dad's funeral, she looked exactly as I remembered her at St. Joseph Hospital. She was so kind and generouse of her time to come visit Mom during her recent stroke in May and I'm glad for the time we shared in Mom's hospital room. She talked of her love to travel, and I invited her to visit us in Oregon. Prayers go out to her family and siblings during this difficult period. Rose (Wessling) Wilson, Tillamook, OR

Paula's laugh and smile were contagious. For such a young woman Paula had life figured out. She loved her family and friends deeply, laughed often with everyone and lived life out loud from little gatherings to big vacations. If everyone on the planet had her outlook and priorities the world would be a better place. It sure feels like a sadder place without her. I was lucky to call her my friend. Love and Prayers to all of the Zieglers.

Having been gone from K.C. 30 years now, my memories of my cousin Paula go back to our childhood and adolescence. The images I retain of Paula are those of a smiling, laughing, vivacious girl always full of energy and life. She was so easy to get a laugh out of – such a big smile. My heart and prayers go out to Jim and his entire family, to Uncle Jay -- stay strong, my favorite uncle -- and to cousins Mary Beth, Jay Jr. and Matt. Paula was truly blessed to be loved by such great people. May God bless you all and keep you strong through these trying times.

Paula, you have made such an impact to this world. Your smiles and your kind words were always a delight to be around! Your love for Jim was an inspiration to all married people. You guys lived your love to the fullest! You were so proud of your family and always talked so fondly of your kids and grandkids. Your sweet and gentle spirit will always be a strong memory to me.
I pray for your family that God would speak softly to them during this loss and that He would wrap them in the comfort of His spirit. Hoping the memories will bring some comfort and carry them through this...
