RIP Paulene. Just celebrated her 100th birthday last Oct. Amazing lady. Her first husband was killed in WWII. Owner of Paulene's at Monticello Plaza in the 1950s and 60s, when women entrepreneurs were not that common. Her first store at Alton Plaza sold foundations (bras and girdles) and had exercise machines, early version of health clubs. Then she added jewelry and clothing.
