In 1955 Paulette and Joe relocated their family from France to the Charleston area.

Paulette was well known for her French gourmet cooking and lavish parties, especially on Bastille Day. She enjoyed her worldwide travels with Joe and during her later years, taking countless cruises with her children.

Paulette was also affectionately known as Ms. Mikla, Maman and Mimi. She will be remembered by all for her relentless feisty spirit, words are inadequate in describing her strength.

Surviving are her children: Jeannette M. Seneca (Russell) of Hernando, FL; Brigitte Miklaszewski of Charleston, SC; Etienne Miklaszewski (Sandra) of Varnville, SC; and Jacqueline M. Whelan (Stephen) of Charleston, SC. She leaves six grandchildren: Lisa Lopez, Helene Czech, Paula Thomas, Carrie Miklaszewski, Christopher Whelan and Stephanie Whelan. She also leaves nine great grandchildren.

Paulette has many nieces and nephews in France, Belgium, England, and Germany; and a loving family friend, Adlean Nole of Jamestown, SC.

Paulette is predeceased by her husband, Joseph; a son Michel Miklaszewski; and her sister, Helene Loosemore.

The family thanks Charlotte Anderson, Mary Brown, Pat Bryant, Beverly Rouse, Shawn Richards, as well as the caregivers at Home Care Plus for their compassionate care. They also remember the late Mary Frances Matthews for her dedication.

Not sure what to say?

Such wonderful memories of your mom- we were truly blessed when your family moved next door to us! I know she is rejoicing with your dad in heaven!
We love and remember you all in our prayers!

So sorry for the loss of your mom. Thinking of you and your family.

Mrs. Paulette, you will be missed. We had a Special Bond from the time I first met you until the end. We had a Special love and understanding. I did not want to leave you when I did, but due to family emergency I had too. You said and I knew you understood. I never stopped thinking of you and loving you. Thank you for all that you did and taught me. Especially the cooking lessons. The French Toast was our favorite, made your way. I will always be thinking of you. Our days and nights together...

Chris and I offer our sympathy to Paulette's family. I have many fond memories of Paulette as her former son in law for 17 years. I especially remember her wonderful cooking and lunch filets cooked in butter with a butter lettuce salad on the side. And I remember that Marrians Resturant was a favorite of hers as a family gathering place. She will be missed.

Coming from Pat Bryant.I am truly going to miss you Mimi and that’s coming from the heart especially the Bell I loved every moment and every night I spent with you love you rest in Jesus name.

Ms. Mikla was an amazing woman. I am so blessed to have known her. She shared many memories of her life with me. Ms. Milka taught me how to boil a perfect egg..4 minutes exactly at a roaring boil, plus a few other things. She was a true inspiration of strength honesty family and love.
Thank you for being a great friend and someone to look up to. I will cherish our time together forever. Say hi to Mr. Joe for me.

My love prayers and deepest condolences.

You will be missed Mimi! Even though you were alive for almost 100 years, it still doesn't seem long enough! Rest in Peace!
