Pauline was my Academic Advisor and Teacher during my two-year study (1971-1973) at Syracuse University School of Library Science. Our relationship did not stop in 1973 but continued years after that, until she passed away. She symbolized what we, Vietnamese people, have always believed: "Teacher for One Day, Teacher for Life."

It was with great sorrow and pain that I learned, just yesterday, 21-March-2025, from my friend, Professor Leigh Estabrook, of Pauline's death on 29-July last year. Pauline was not only MY TEACHER, but also my spiritual mother. My grandson, Dean Ky Lam, now 3 years old, called her Great-Grandmother. She was always there when I needed her, at Syracuse U. (1971-1973), in Vietnam after the fateful day of Communist take-over on 30 April 1975, in Canada since Sept. 1981. For the rest of my...
