Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel - Portage Obituary

Pauline M. Krill, age 91 and a resident of Portage, passed away on September 17, 2024. Born in Hartford Michigan on July 25, 1933, she was the daughter of Lewis B. and Thera I. (Briggs) Johnson.  Pauline was a strong resilient woman, known for her hard work and commitment to family.  She organized her work life around her kids’ schedules, taking positions in the school kitchen and nurse’s office.  She had a contagious smile and quick wit.  Tanning effortlessly, she’d soak up the sun while reading the latest novel.  She was a skilled majorette in school and graduated from Portage High School in 1953.  She enjoyed sewing and cooking.  Her gift for storytelling drew people in.  She loved to play pinochle, canasta and bingo.  She attended St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Portage.

Pauline is survived by 3 children, Keith Krill of Warsaw, Mark Krill of Portage and Kathy Fesko (Brian) of Arizona and her brother and wife, Bill and Edie Johnson of Valparaiso.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Fleming.

Those wishing to express their sympathy may give to Asera Care Hospice, Valparaiso for compassion during her final days.

A funeral service is planned for Pauline at the Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church, 6540 Central Avenue, Portage on Saturday, September 21 at 11 a.m.  Immediately following the service there will be a church gathering for family and friends to celebrate her life.  Cremation was entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368.
