Pauline Davis Lorfano, 86, of Vienna, VA, passed away on August 8, 2014, from cancer. The family will receive friends at Money and King Vienna Funeral Home, 171 West Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on Saturday, August 16 from 2 to 5 p.m.The funeral service and burial will be held at a later time at Arlington Cemetery. Pauline was born in Westbrook, Maine on June 15, 1928. She graduated from Maine College of Art, Westbrook College and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from University of Maine. Pauline was married to Cdr.Joseph Lorfano, Jr. (USN Retired) on April 18, 1953; they were married for 61 years. Pauline was a nationally recognized artist whose work is exhibited in galleries throughout the Washington D.C.metro area and along the east coast. She was active in the art communities; she served on the governing boards of a number of local, regional, and national art organizations. Her paintings were exhibited in numerous museums, including the Chrysler Museum, Sumner Museum, National Wildlife, American Horticulture and Maritime Museum to name a few. The University of New England Board of Trustees and the Westbrook College Alumni Board of Directors named Pauline recipient of the 2013 Tower Award of Alumni Achievement. They noted "Mrs. Lorfano's achievement as an artist as well as her dedication to serving the art community through education and leadership, set her apart from the other nominees." Pauline is survived by her husband Joseph, daughters Mary-Jo, Paula (Richard Florence), Julie and son Joseph III (Carrie), grandchildren include Emiley Garhartt, Olivia, Rachel, Aimee, and Anthony Lorfano, great grandchild Liam Paige, and sister Mary Etta (Jack) Dailey, and many friends and extended family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Capital Caring.
