Maus Funeral Home - Attica Obituary

Attica - Pearl Anne (Stewart) Edwards, 88, Attica, passed away in the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 2:30 p.m.
Pearl was born in Rob Roy in Shawnee Township, Fountain County, Indiana on August 20, 1936.  She was the daughter of the late Paul Adrian Stewart and Mary Elizabeth (Swaney) Booe Stewart VanLaere.  Pearl was a life resident of Attica and attended Attica High School.  She was a cook for various restaurants in Attica and more recently Robie’s Restaurant in Attica, where she retired.
Pearl dedicated her life to her family and her passions. A lifelong bingo player, Pearl found joy and built lasting friendships at the Attica VFW, American Legion, and Boot Scootin Bingo of Lafayette. When she wasn't enjoying a game of bingo, she was often found supporting her grandchildren at their various sporting events, traveling to and from practices and games.
Pearl was a devoted fan of the Indiana Pacers, but her true loyalty lay with the Chicago Cubs and Sammy Sosa. In her downtime, Pearl enjoyed attending local auctions to expand her collections. She also cherished long drives in the countryside, appreciating the beauty of nature, and could often be seen sitting on Perry Street, waving to anyone who passed by. In her younger years, mushrooming was a favorite hobby however, she enjoyed eating them even more.
Pearl came from a large family and these gatherings were a cornerstone of her life. She relished attending family reunions and cherishing the time spent with loved ones. She also loved a good game of cards and Yahtzee, which were likely sources of laughter and memorable moments with her family and friends.
Pearl was a member and former Senior Vice of the V.F.W. Post # 3318 of Attica and a member of the American Legion Post # 52 of Attica.
On September 25, 1954, Pearl married James Carl Edwards in Attica.  Carl preceded her in death on March 20, 1976.
Pearl leaves behind four children, James “Eddie” Edwards, Glasgow, KY; Darrell Edwards (Connie), Perrysville, IN; Pam Evans (Chris), Attica and Tammy Purcell, Summer Shade, KY; two sisters, Betty Clawson, Fort Wayne, IN and Edda VanLaere, Tampa, FL; 15 grandchildren, Ashley, Minda, Kaylan, Linsey, Timmy, Ryan, Dillon, Tasha, Brittany, Jay, Brian, Bobby, Ronnie, Travis and Dustin; 17 great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Butch, Fred and Donna.  Pearl was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Edwards; six brothers, Bill Booe, Harold Stewart, Bobby Dean Stewart, Archie “Bud” Stewart, Art Stewart and Elmer Stewart and four sisters, Marjorie Ridge, Garnet Flynn, Geraldene Lamie and Claudine Stewart.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Wednesday, August 13th, from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Jordan officiating.  Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.  Following the burial there will be a gathering held at Budreau’s Steak and Tap House in Attica from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.

Not sure what to say?

Lots of memories growing up w/ friendship of Anne & Pearl in high school to Pearl & Carl’s family and Anne & David’s family renting same houses w/ Anne/David & kids in upstairs apartment & Pearl/Carl & kids in main floor apartment on McDonald Street & Jackson Streets, then to individual houses just down Bethel Road fr/ each other❣. In later years when Pearl moved to apartment on N Perry, she & friends/neighbors would sit/visit in yard facing N Perry St on nice warmer days & wave as I drove...

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always. Losing your mother/grandmother is hard. May your faith give you strength and comfort.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Pam and family for your loss

I love you!
