Pearl Jacobs
June 7, 1939 - November 14, 2024


 


Pearl Mae Jacobs, the youngest child of Willie McGhee and Alberta Walker McGhee was born in Centerville, Mississippi on June 7, 1939. She departed this life in the early morning of November 14, 2024 at the Crossing at Clarity Hospice.


 


After graduating high school in 1957, Pearl moved to Baton Rouge. Pearl married Robert C Jacobs, Jr., and to their union, one child was born Robert C. “Butch” Jacobs, III. She later joined Greater New Guide Baptist Church in the Fairfield community. She served as a faithful and devoted member for many years until she was unable to attend due to illness. She was a member of the Choir and the Usher Board during the time she was an active member of the church.


 


Pearl was previously employed at Stroube’s Drug Store and worked in the food services industry for many years. After leaving food service, she operated a daycare out of her home. In her most recent employment, Pearl was the owner and cook at Pearl’s Original Foods, located in the yellow building on Scenic Highway, in the Scotlandville community.


 


Pearl leaves to mourn her son, Robert C “Butch” Jacobs, III, Baton Rouge; and her brother, Charlie Lee McGhee (Vivian) of Stockton, CA.Nephews and nieces: Costie Lee (Linda) of Westwego, LA, Beulah Mae Sparrow of Baton Rouge, Bennie Lee Anderson (Gladys) of Hammond, LA, Ikaha Spears of Compton, CA, Joyce Christian and Diane Addison Hayes (Howard), both of Stockton, CA, Kevin Llewellyn McGhee (Michelle) of St. Louis, MO; Nicole McGhee Hall (Kelvin) of Atlanta, GA, Zita Chatman Wilson of Marietta, GA, Ronnie McGhee (Cheryl) and Cynthia Chesterfield both of Baton Rouge, LA; a special great niece, Ikaha Mae Sparrow and a special great nephew, K Nathaniel Hall, as well as many other great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.


 


Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Alberta McGhee; her brothers, Prentiss McGhee, Percy McGhee, and Troy McGhee; her sister, Velma Anderson; her former husband Robert C. Jacobs, Jr.


 


The Celebration of Life for Pearl Mae Jacobs will be held on Tuesday, November
