Pearl Jane Whitaker, 85 of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at her home. Mrs. Whitaker was born in Carroll County to the late Lisco and Ruby Spence Nichols. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel H. Whitaker, Sr.
Survivors include her children, Ron Smith, Sammy H. Whitaker (Vickie), and Denise Cochran (Sandy); siblings Jr. Nichols (Linda) and Bonnie Reynolds; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Terry Simone officiating. Burial will follow in the Dry Pond Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
