Pearl will forever be in my heart. She was like a grandmother to me in growing up across the street from her home. We moved to Roseville in 1940 when I was three. I remember that Pearl made the BEST "Pearl's Never Fail Devil's Food Cake" and we could smell it baking from across the street. I would try to time a visit to be able to lick the beaters and especially scrape the frosting bowl. Sweet Pearl ....I'm so sorry to hear about Pearl's passing. She was my inspiration! And my moms Avon lady. I lost my mother over 25 years ago so I always enjoyed knowing someone who knew my mother. The last time I saw Pearl she looked the same as I remembered ... 45 years ago. I always enjoyed reading about her when she made the papers...such as, "at 100, Pearl is on a cruise with her boyfriend." (You go...Girlfriend!)
