Pearlie Lee Hubbard

It is almost two years later that I heard of the passing of my good friend Pearlie. We went to high school together where he was a star athlete but in those days we were so divided that we did not become friends until our 15th class reunion. Thereafter we got together whenever I was in Newark and he often visited my parents on Elkton Road. As they got older, he showed them great kindness and checked in to see how they were from time to time, helping them with small technical issues like...

Pearlie was a very fine running back for Newark High School's 1958 unbeaten (8-0) Blue Hem Conference football team. He was an underclassman who "broke one" for a 60-yard touchdown run one weekend night down in Dover. ... Wayne Crissman

Pearlie and Arlena were a loving and beautiful couple. They raised their children to be good and kind members of the community. They are together once again. May they rest in peace.

Pearlie was an especially kind, thoughtful person. The Sonchen family knew him through sports activities. One day, he showed up at our house, bringing a letter that had been mistakenly delivered to either his house or a house near his. He went out of his way to bring it to us.
