Pedro Cuatrecasas

Dr. Cuatrecasas was a noble man, sharing his optimism and graciousness with residents and staff at the White Sands, where I, as conciege, was lucky enough to meet him, his wife, Caro, and Ms. Rivera. There was never a time when we were not met with a generous smile and his full present, gallant attention. On behalf of those who knew him at The White Sands: May your journey be paved with the love from the people you touched, and the light you unfailingly gave, Dr. C.

As spaniard and born in Madrid with proud for Pedro. We need more people like him.

I didn´t met Pedro, but his father Jose Cuatrecasas Arumi was professor in my Department of Botany (Universidad Complutense) before the Spanish civil war. I am very proud of it, he was a very talented botanist and also his son Pedro as Pharmacologist. I am very sad to know about your lost. Rest in peace! Rosario

Casualmente, tratando de contactar a Pedro, su padre, he sabido hoy de su fallecimiento y el de Caro un año antes. I often think about Pedro and the time we worked together for more than 35+ productive years. Pedro was my teacher, guide, advisor, coworker, and a close friend. I cannot underestimate how much I owe him for my professional training. I will remember Pedro for the rest of my life.

It was Pedro who, in 1976, convinced me to leave academia and join Burroughs Wellcome Co. I have nothing but fond memories and high regard for my experience with him.

I worked with Pedro at Glaxo from 1988, then followed him here to Parke-Davis in 1997 after his departure for California. He deserved a Nobel Prize for affinity chromatography alone, and was an inspirational scientist and world-class leader in drug discovery.
