Not sure what to say?

Winegar family, I was just now (8:30 PM) Thursday evening and I found Peg's obituary. She and the whole family were an important part of my life when I was a part of the Hillsboro Christian Church some years ago. She was so full of life, energy and wisdom. She will be missed by her family and friends. As one of the other responders said, She was a gift from God. Blessings on you.

I opened the Argus today (late) and saw that Peggy had died. I was sad that I had missed her funeral. She hosted Japanese students for several years and was just incredible to them. She was like a grandmother to them. We missed her cheery attitude and smile in the program the last few years. I loved hearing about her travels - and her grandchildren that she adored. God Bless to the family. She was truly a God's gift to mankind and to our community.

Dear Winegar family & relatives, I want to "echo" my friend Dianna Francis (Cribbins)comments about how dear "Mrs. Winegar" became & was to all of us who regularly enjoyed the old Hillsboro swimming pool! When we were at the pool, she (I always called her "Mrs. Winegar") was like our "surrogate mother". If you needed anything (broken bikini strap, whatever!), she seemed to be able to help! I also remember meeting her again at the Tuality hospital gift shop, and I thanked her for all of the...

One person, one comment can have so much impact on your life. As a child in Hillsboro taking swimmjng lessons from Peggy— then buying ice cream from the little old guy in the Rambler Nash, remember him — she once told me ‘Don't say ‘I can't,' say ‘I'll try.‘' Those words never left me and I've harkened back to them many times in my 60 years. God bless you Peggy and your family. You likely impacted so many more people than you will ever know.

My sincere condolences to the Winegar family on the loss of their dear mother & grandmother. My siblings and I spent many, many summers swimming at the pool in the '60's and early '70's. I remember handing over my dime for the safety pin w/the number on it. And the smell of the chlorine, and of course Peggy calling out "Walk, don't run." I saw her every now and then these last few years, and she always remembered me (not sure if that was a good thing ;) Prayers to her family and loved ones.

Dear Winegar family,

Growing up in Hillsboro durring the 60's and 70's I was blessed to know Peggy. In my minds eye I can see her behind the front counter checking us in at the Hillsboro pool. She was a great swim instructor.
I had Peggy as a fifth grade teacher at Brookwood School during the 1969-70 school year. Thank you Peggy, you were very gifted teacher.
I will always remember you.

May our God Bless you and your family!

I remember going to Hillsboro every summer for swimming lessons and the one person I have never forgotten for the last 50+ years is Mrs. Winegar. She was a wonderful teacher who helped me and my 8 siblings to overcome our fear of the water and all become great and avid swimmers. Thank you Mrs. Winegar! God bless you! Love, Mary Halvorson

Sorry about your loss guys. She always was very nice to us explorers when we came to the house.
