Not sure what to say?

I was a boyhood friend to Eric and Per. We lost touch as I moved away, but I remember Per and the whole family as kind and gentle spirits. Love to you all and may Per rest peacefully, Steve Phillips, Bend Oregon

I was a patient of Dr. Sweetman for over eleven years. When he retired he gave me his yellow hot wheels race car. It sits proudly on my desk. He fought for me to get the proper services outside of Kaiser because I needed more help than they could provide. He and I shared a love for books and he introduced me to many new authors. I did not know if his passing until today. He will always be in my memories.

I was one of Per's freshman roommates at Yale in 1966. I had not seen him since graduation, but every time I thought I would have a chance to visit Portland, I thought I would renew the friendship. Per was about as natural and un-stuck-up a person as I ever met. I am glad to know that he led an adventurous and full professional and family life.

We climbed Mt St Helens first year year of medical school. What an experience. He helped a rookie keep from killing himself.

I first met Per when we both entered hi school at Sunset in 1962. I fit in some where between the jocks and the intellectuals, but Per always treated me with respect. I remember classes with him, sitting at his table at lunch, playing him in the semi-finals of the school table tennis tourney. I remember sitting high in the gym listening to his campaign speech for student body VP, his clever use of his violin assuring his victory. I had the honor of being a guest at a family dinner, with Bill...

Per and Jan and Steve were nice enough to take in a complete stranger roommate when I started nursing school,1972 or thereabouts.

I miss you Per. Your whole family is very special to me.

I remember many talks with Per in the Sunset High School cafeteria. Certainly one of the most sane people I have met, which is quite appropriate for his career choice.

The Sweetman family and my family had shared a friendship going back for generations so when I first arrived to Portland, Oregon in 1980, I was fortunate to live with Maxine and Bill. I still remember the first day when I met Per and other members of the Sweetman family, I was warmly received. Per took a group of us to the hill top to view Mt. Saint Helens from a distance. Per also explained to me that an eruption occurred there not long ago. Per was like a big brother to me, he showed...
