General Hoisington, also known to me as "Uncle Perry", was a West Point classmate and close friend of my father, Maj. Gen. William T. Smith, and mother, Nina C. Smith. I have very fond memories of Uncle Perry from childhood forward. He will be missed and forever loved. With deepest sympathy to the family.

I had a great respect and affection for General Hoisington. He was a close friend of my Dad, Colonel Joe McLachlan. I met General Hoisington at Army Navy Country Club one day back in the 70's when I was with my Dad having lunch. He was an interesting man and fun to be with. I enjoyed his company and his humor! The McLachlan Family will miss him!
