I am Charles (Dick) Everling. Bill Everling is my brother and he has, through the years, mentioned Perry and others in his squad. Bill loaned me a picture of a group of his buddies taken in April, 1945. They are situated around a Peep (Jeep) and Perry is sitting in the Peep. This picture in my mind,is a part of "history"! I am William W. (Bill) Everling. Iserved under Perry when he was Sergeant of the 2nd Platoon, Company A, 125th Armored Engineer Battalion, 14th Armored Division in Camp Campbell (now Fort Campbell) Kentucky. We shipped out for Marseilles, France, through the Mediterranean in an early October 1944 landing. We were together through the rest of the war until it ended May 8, 1945 during which time Perry received a battlefield commision when our leutenant, was killed in action. Three years ago...

This man is trully the reason we celebrate our heros in the manor in which we do. It so happens in this case he is the father of just such as one as he.
