I first met Dr. Arnovick at Reach Fitness in Los Altos. He was considered an "eccentric" by the younger inhabitants of the gym, but I saw a different person, full of intrigue and charm. We talked from time to time, and I was quite impressed with his background and artistic talents...not to mention his acerbic wit. After Reach closed, I saw him less frequently at the YMCA gym in Mtn. View, although on one occasion he abruptly interrupted my salutation to blurt out that I was interfering...

I was quite fond of Mr. Arnovick and feel sad to read about his passing. I liked him and will miss him.

Peter, who I fondly addressed as 'Pete' in all my e-mails over years (primarily, because it gave him an opportunity to express mock indignation: "I don't believe I've given you permission to address me that way!"), was (over 45 years) my first professor, occasional confessor, mentor and ultimately, close and dear friend. We shared a love for literature, music, heroes and heroic notions, and above all irreverent humor.

A refined man, funny and charming, he will be missed.

I will always remember Peter for his great sense of humor; it made going to school really fun. What a great man he was.
