Read More l am very sad to learn of Peter's passing. He was a very close family friend (my father was at Winne and Banta with him) when I was growing up and I called him Uncle. I have fond memories of the times we spent with him. My sincere condolences to his loved ones.

I met Peter in 1978 and had the great adventure of hiking the high peaks of Maine, including Mt. Katahdin, with him and a group from the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC). That started a long friendship with many laughs, political discussions, hikes, and the US Open. He was a gracious gentleman, loved his family dearly and the outdoors, and was blessed with the ability to brighten up people's spirits! My condolences to Marion, Laurie and Eric. He left you with great memories of his life.
