Not sure what to say?

I was in young life and that's where I met Pete, he was a good man. He went out of his way to get to know me. I'm not sure why he found an interest in me, as I grew older I realized it was just his way. Ill always remember Pete, and I hope the best for his relatives. Know he was a genuinely happy person, who tried and succeeded to bring out the best in others. Rest in peace buddy.

To the family of my platoon leader. I'm sorry for your loss and wish only happy memories. You're son was my platoon leader for a short time but will always be a friend and brother in arms. I feel like I owe my life to him for taking lead that day in the convoy. I don't know why he decided to but he wouldn't take no for an answer. I was the normal lead gunner and he saved my life that day. I can never repay that debt but I do my best to make everyday the best I can.

To the family:
May the comfort from family and friends continue to strengthen you, and may you find comfort in the words found in the Holy Scriptures: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."

Peter, on this Memorial Day weekend 2010, we Thank You for the sacrifice you gave for our freedom. You are a true American Hero!

LT Burks, it was an honor to carry your flag. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice.
