Comeaux-Community Mortuary & Cremations - Beaumont Obituary

Peter Graves Byrd, Jr., was blessed to be 104 years of age at the time of his passing on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at his home with his loved ones.

He was also a veteran of WW II, serving proudly in U. S. Navy. During his working life, Peter was self-employed as a contractor before his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing dominos, listening to and dancing to Zydeco music, and spending time with his family and friends.

Memories of a well-lived life are left to his wife, Melba Byrd; children, Peter Byrd, III, Renee' Byrd, and Shirley Woodard; sister, Nettie Byrd-Jones (Thomas); step-sister, Dawn Lung (James) and nine grandchildren. Also, a host of other family and friends.

On Saturday, August 20, 2022, there will be a visitation at 9 a.m., followed by the Celebration of Life service at 11 a. m. at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 1175 Isla St. in Beaumont. He will be buried at the VA National Cemetery in Houston, Texas, at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2022. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mercy Ships in Peter Byrd, Jr.'s memory.
