Peter was always a name associated with any social justice actions in Missouri. I knew him mostly from Missourians for Single Payer. A life well lived. Rest in peace.

Peter became my acquaintance when I worked with Annie and their neighborhood was sort of open to all in those years. I have a copy of a recipe titled "Peter DeSimone's Pasta" and I'm pretty sure not a year has gone by without making it for my family at least once. It's never easy to lose your dad or husband or friend, but you can be thankful for all you have of him and all his gifts to you.

I appreciate Gary Stangler's eloquent remarks. I was in some of those battles. Peter was kind, compassionate, principled, and an incredible advocate. I will always treasure the times we spent working together on the Blue Cross case, Medicaid waivers, and a host of other issues. Our state and our community will miss him and so will I. My heart goes out to Mary and the rest of Peter's family.

Peter was an unrelenting advocate for the most vulnerable among us. At times we were uneasy allies, other times adversaries in our approaches to these issues. But there was never any doubt about his commitment to his values and his deep concern for others. The world is poorer without him.
