Read MoreI knew Peter as Br. Gerard in the Presentation Brothers in Longueuil. He was just starting up there, and I was returning to Phoenix. I am surprised that we share this city in common. Years after leaving the brothers, I contacted Peter and he was kind enough to bring me up to date on some of the people I knew in the Brothers. Of the people whom I could contact, Peter was the one who was kind enough to respond. Rest in peace, Peter!

Dear Despathy Family:
We were so sorry to hear today about Br. Gerard's passing. I worked with Br. Gerard at Sacred Heart School and we will remember and pray for him at our next school mass. He was a great cook and I begged him for a copy of his delicious orange cake. He had a great sense of humour and loved to sing in our church choir. We were so lucky to have him at our school for so many years. He will be greatly missed.
