Peter H. Emery Sr.

December 19, 1940 – May 28, 2025

Peter H. Emery Sr. passed away peacefully at the Good Shepherd Hospice Home in Sebring, Florida, with his loving wife, Wendy, by his side. Over the past year and a half, Peter and his beautiful bride embraced the Florida sunshine, creating treasured memories and sharing joyful moments with their dear lifelong friend, Mildred.

A lifelong resident of New Hartford, New York, Peter lived a life defined by service, love, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. Born on December 19, 1940, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was a proud graduate of Fordham University. He built a successful career as a pharmacist, owning and operating Emery Pharmacy alongside his sons. His commitment to his work and the genuine care he gave to others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Peter was active in several professional and charitable organizations. He served as Past President and Board Member of Heritage Healthcare, and as a Board Member of Eli Lilly, GeriMed in Kentucky, the House of Good Shepherd, and the Association of the Blind. He was also a proud member of the Pharmaceutical Society of America, as well as a member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.

Known for his generous spirit, warm smile, and quiet strength, Peter was always ready to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or share a laugh. His deep Catholic faith was a guiding force in his life and the foundation of his kindness and generosity.

A devoted New York Yankees fan, Peter rarely missed watching a game. Baseball brought him great joy, as did music—especially the timeless voice of Frank Sinatra, whose songs provided the soundtrack to many of his happiest moments.

Peter also had a lifelong passion for horse racing. At one point, he owned racehorses and found great enjoyment in betting on races. He found daily comfort and joy in his wife Wendy’s cooking, which filled their home with love and warmth.

A devoted lover of chocolate Labradors, Peter is now reunited in heaven with his cherished dogs, Godiva and Simon. He leaves behind his loyal companions Divi, Cosby, and Gary, who brought him boundless affection.

Peter is survived by his beloved wife, Wendy; his children, Peter Jr., Paul, Patrick, Jeannette, and daughter Heather; and his grandchildren, Evelyn, Shannon, Alec, Patrick, Kory, Katy, Christian, Jeremy, niece Tracy, and nephews Todd, and Matthew. He is also remembered by many extended family members and dear friends. Among them, he held a special bond with Harold Castro of Aruba, whom he loved as a son.

He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Marie Emery; his late wife, Mary Shannon Emery; his sister, Susan Ellinwood; his son Christian J. Kukowski; and his grandson, Paul Emery Jr.

A memorial service will be held at St. John’s in Utica, New York at a later date.
