Not sure what to say?

You were the best chief resident and teacher I ever had. You were my inspiration to pursue cardiac surgery. I remember well when you first became ill and your fearless fight against your illness. Rest In Peace dear friend. I will remember you always

I am saddened to learn of Pete's passing. A year ahead of me at Mt. Lebanon High School, Pete was a good friend. He hosted me at Johns Hopkins during his freshman year when I made a trip to Baltimore to visit the campus, an experience I will never forget. I am heartened to read the tributes from those who worked with him over his many years of medical practice. My sympathy to his family.

This makes me so sad. Peter, my high school friend who kept in touch with me all these years....I will miss him tremendously. I remember all the fun we had, and will cherish those memories. He was a brilliant and funny guy, and a pretty decent trumpeter and pool player. To Peter's family, my heart and prayers go out to you. May God bless you.

I am so fortunate that I have worked for some of the physicians and physician educators in my life. Dr. Ferson was one of them. I remember him taking the time to explain procedures to me. I have many good memories that I will cherish.

Dear Denise and Family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Dr. Ferson was a wonderful doctor and teacher to all the nurses on 7D, his patients, and their families. He always took the extra time with his patients and to answer any questions they or the staff had. He also gave his valuable time to do seminars over the years for the nursing staff. He will be greatly missed by all of us.

Dr. Ferson was a wonderful surgeon but more importantly a kind and humble man. I worked with him at Southside hospital where he was one of the first surgeons there to do scope procedures to remove tumors or lesions on the lung. He taught us so much and was so very patient as we learned to move into the future of so many other scope type procedures. My prayers go out to his family at this difficult time.

Peter was our next door neighbor in Mt. Lebanon for 14 years and we attended the same church for many years also. What a wonderful neighbor and friend he was. A very humble and kind man he was never too busy to talk or answer a medical question. When my mother was in the hospital with cardiopulmonary issues Peter called me immediately on a Sunday night after getting my frantic message to advise us on doctors and treatments etc. He was one of the most brilliant men we have ever known. We...

I was Peter's nurse for 16 years at the VA. I remember very early on during a Tuesday morning clinic, he finished up with a patient and reminded the guy not to eat cranberries' on his way out the door. I was so confused by his comment and a little worried that I hadn't passed on that same advice to other similar patients. Of course this was before Google so I quickly searched a reference book, thought about it for a while, and finally, embarrassed at my lack of experience, I asked Dr....

My deepest sympathies to all the Ferson family. I knew and worked with Pete for well over thirty years in the VA OR. He was truly a unique individual. Gifted teacher and great surgeon. You made the world a much better place by your presence here. Rest in peace, Pete.
