Not sure what to say?

Be at peace, Dad. Love you.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who commented, it is so wonderful to hear from others who remember my fathers send of humor and intelligence...thank you it means so much!

We read about Peter's death in the sf chronicle and wish to send our condolences & love to all the family.

Fay, sorry to read about your husband passing away. May the Lord's peace be with you and yours.

Fay, So sorry to read about you husband's passing. Peace be with you and yours.

Although I never canoed with this incredible man, I did have the pleasure of working with him @ Mercy Medical Center. His depth & intelligence were enormous. His love of native art at one time did get me interested in Molas.
Thank you for all the good works in your lifetime. My prayers to your family S. Copley

I, too, canoed with Peter in Canada's great northern wildness and am so sorry to have just learned of his passing. I will always fondly recall his subtle wit shared around a precious Arctic nip, kindly followed up months later with the surprise delivery of the finest cognac I've ever tasted. Peter's intelligence ever coupled with his thoughtfulness and heart are what I miss. Thanks for the memories, Peter!

I just learned of Peter's death from Jim Abel as the word spreads among those who canoed with Peter on Northwest Territories trips. I remember that Peter tolerated the rapids, but he thrived on being in the midst of vast, beautiful, "barren" landscapes. And he could say much with a few pithy words! I think of him with great fondness and still smile at some of his funny statements--still vividly recalled after 25 years!

I knew Peter on two summer-long canoe trips in the Northwest Territories of Canada, including one when we were boat partners. Peter had a quiet intensity and toughness about him. He loved walking the tundra in the evening, pipe in mouth, eyes scanning the wide horizon for wildlife. This is sad news. I send my condolences.
