Peter J. Graniela “Granny”

10/2/1944-8/30/2025

USN, Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, honorably discharged
NAS Key West, Crash Fire Department, Captain, retired
Disney Cast Member and Ambassador, retired
Beloved Son, Cherished Husband, Devoted Father, Grandfather “P-Pa”, and Uncle, Dear Cousin and Friend to All…

Slipped away peacefully after fighting a courageous fight against time and debilitating disease (ALS) on a tranquil afternoon on Saturday, the 30th of August, the Year of Our Lord, 2025, in Clermont, FL, his home away from Key West, of 25 years.

He was surrounded by his loved ones and uplifted by the Prayers and Love of all that could not be present.

Peter was born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, the third child to Pedro and Codeliva Graniela, and raised in New York, NY.

After he graduated from high school, he joined the US Navy, being stationed at Naval Air Station, Key West and served aboard the USS Constellation.

After honorably serving his nation, Peter made Key West his home. He became a Firefighter with NAS, KW Crash Fire Department, married his “Conch Girl” best friend, dance partner, and love of his life, started and raised his family, and became an Honorary Conch. After retiring, and moving to the Orlando area (Clermont) Peter became a Disney Cast Member and Ambassador, also retiring from the Happiest Place on Earth.

He lived the remaining years of his family and joy-filled life, in hopes of one day returning home to Key West. We will honor that dream.

His parents and his older siblings, Albert (passed away from SIDS) and Myrna (Seda) and younger sibling Jeanette (Burke), preceded him in death.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Faye, his adoring sons, Kevin (married to Ashley) and Stephen, his grandson, ISON, his loving niece and nephew, Diana (married to Jesus) and Mitchell (married to Denise) and their sons, Robert & Noah, as well as many other cousins and their families, too numerous to name, but more important to him than words can express and dear friends near and far.

Per his wishes, Peter will be cremated and buried at sea at sunset, and his life and memory will be celebrated, at a time still to be determined, in the waters off Key West, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the fund to restore his home church, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Key West, FL, at the following link:
