Not sure what to say?

My sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to Peter's family. We were classmate in the first day classes of the University of Toledo College of Law. I remember Pete well for his kindness, humor, and leadership. He contributed so much to the legal profession and the greater community.

To Peter's family, my sincere condolences and deepest sympathy. We were classmates in the U of T College of Law inaugural day classes, prior to which the law school had night classes only. I remember Pete well for his kindness and leadership. He contributed so much to the legal profession and greater community.

To Claudia and the Handwork family:

I want to express my sincere condolences for your loss. I knew Peter Handwork as a decades-long friend and professional mentor. It was a privilege and honor to have been able to work with him at the Sixth District Court of Appeals. We kept in touch over the course of my own career in the law, and Judge Handwork was always very generous with his insights and advise. Claudia, please know you have my deepest sympathy.

Respectfully,

I had the pleasure of working across the hall from Judge Handwork in Common Pleas Court and appearing before him numerous times in the Court of Appeals. He always greeted counsel in the appellate court with a warm smile and ended by thanking you "for your fine arguments". He applied the law in a fair manner and was a genuine human being who treated everyone with respect.

I have known Pete my whole life. He was one of the most respectful, honest, kind and fun guys I have even known. He will be missed by all who have ever known him.

For 52 years I have looked up to my Uncle Pete for his steadfast and positive presence - always thoughtful and engaging with an interesting insight and infinitely good-humored. To my children he is their great-uncle, Peter the Great. They remember with affection the man who captained a "boat sit" on Chub Lake, an adventure that never left the dock.

My family and I send love and condolences to Aunt Claudia, my dear cousins, and their families.

Judge Handwork was an excellent Jurist and man of the utmost integrity and class. I have known him for many years. Claudia, my heart goes out to you and please know that you and your family are in my prayers.

With sincere sympathy
The Donald J Finnegan Jr Family

Judge Handwork taught me that life is not always two sided and how to think outside of the box. He was a great teacher and a wonderful human being. My heart goes out to Claudia and the family.
