Not sure what to say?

As a student of Mr. Hufstader´s, I can say that he loomed large as he taught us to write critically. Such a huge brain! In fact, I, still, question every word that I pen! Oh, he taught us, enthusiastically, about navigation, dead-reckoning, etc., and made it so that we all wanted to take to the sea! He was quick and, yet, patient with us. I was very fortunate to have had him as a teacher! Louisa, my friend, I wish that I could hug you!

Please except my deepest sympathies to you and your family at this time of grieving. May God be with you and your family in this time of sorrow.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Hofstader’s passing. I have many fond memories of his classes in the Fresh Air Building at Wheeler. He was so enthusiastic. So supportive of young writers. One of my favorites.

Peter was the best brother-in-law a human being could have hoped for......he was much loved and will be terribly missed.
Prayers and strength to his family.
Love, Patty & Jim

Peter and Katharine sang in St. Sebastian's choir for many years. Peter was the smartest, funniest, classiest friend one could have. A true intellectual. My heart goes out to Katharine and his family.

Regretfully I hadn’t seen Peter in a few years since I last saw him at Healthtrax where he was doing physical therapy. I always enjoyed his wit and intellect, and unfortunately that it’s now too late, I wish I had spent more time in his company. He leaves a rich legacy of service that I must keep in mind as an example for my own life.
