In recent months as I wrote a review for the Calvin Theological Journal of Jack Nyenhuis's splendid two-volume history of Hope College, published by the Van Raalte Institute Press, I thought appreciatively of Peter once again.
That Center and its work owe their existence substantially to the vision of Peter and Heidi. Peter's life and legacy endure through every significant contribution made by the VRI. I continue to thank God for him.

Recently learned of Peter's untimely passing and wanted to extend our condolences to his entire family. We knew Peter from Christ Church and would enjoy chatting with him after church. My dad, John Bill Stikkers, came from Rotterdam to the U.S. as a teenager and would always like to see Peter in church and talk with him in Dutch! With sincere sympathy, John Craig and Connie Stikkers Craig

Dear family,
I will carry with me always many fond memories of Peter beginning when he was in Kindergarten and I in first grade and continued through our time in Calvin. May God bless you as you deal with your loss.

To know Peter was to love Peter.
What a joy to know him and his family.
Every Christmas time we looked forward to receiving the family photo.
It was my privilege to be his pastor and friend. Thank you for touching and blessing my life.
Heidi and family, Lynnore joins me in assuring you of our love and prayers. We praise God that Peter is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior. Hallelujah!

Peter was my mentor and role model in life. Because of Peter, I am a better person, a better Christian, a better mother, friend and business owner. Because of Peter I embrace life with passion and joy, and he taught me why I need to love the Lord with all my heart. Because of Peter I have learned to forgive and to tread lightly in life. Yes, Peter gave with a generous heart and was a successful business man. However, his greatest gift was having a loving, devoted wife and family. Peter's not...
